Hi. My name is Christian Isaiah. I am 3 years old, and I haveChiari Malformation 1. This is a rare congenital disease. What happens when youhave this disease can be debilitating. In short, my brain is too crowdedin my skull and has herniated into my spinal column. This can cause amyriad of symptoms. Mine are tremors, drop attacks, falling, pins & needles in hands and feet, pain in knees and ankles, headaches, weakness on my leftside, and breathing problems. I really need to go to the Chiari experts.
My Mommy has decided that she cannot possibly look me in the eye(when I am ready to go out into the world on my own) and say "I'm sorryson. There was a treatment for your disease that would have eased your pain, butwe didn't have the money to send you to the experts."
She has decided to ask people for donations for medicalevaluation / diagnostic testing / surgery if necessary / lodging when out oftown, and so forth. She has found out how to get free flights from California toNew York, and how to apply for lodging at the Variety House. She can also getprices lowered for testing.
If you can help, please know that even a couple of dollars fromeach person who reads this will help me get the treatment that I need.

UPDATE!! Christian was seen August 31, 2004 at The Chiari Institute. Dr. Bolognese said that he needs surgery. They will open C1 and C2 and do a decompression. Then he will have a duraplasty. We also found out that Christian's mommy has Chiari, but doesn't need surgery, just medicine.
Also, you can donate money towards Christian's co-pay for his surgery (thousands of dollars) through any Wells Fargo c/o Christian Counterman #**********.

HUGE UPDATE!!!! I am leaving this page up as a testament to how awesome GOD is!! It is April 23, 2005. Christian was scheduled for surgery last month. His dad, James was in so much pain he was suicidal. I took them both to my church for prayer, and we all started deliverance ministry. Christian is now symptom free of Chiari, Gluten Intolerance, Reflux, Asthma, Dystonia and so on. My husband is now symptom free of Pseudotumor Cerebri, Arthritis and Tinnitus. He has had chronic pain for 22 years. I married him in a wheelchair. We just got back today from Nashville, TN where my husband was a contracted engineer for K-LOVE & Air 1 radio to do the GMA broadcasts. We had a blast. And both my son and husband were pain free. I give the glory to GOD and GOD alone. I hope this helps someone. I will add some pictures later of Christian with some of the artists.
